A workshop for people becoming artists, becoming performers, becoming theatre-makers, exploring the tools with which we’ve made The Chaosbaby – devising, improvising, writing, physical work – and how we can incorporate these things in our growing practice. The Emerging Artists Workshop is for anyone who feels they are new to making theatre and could do with some help in working out what tools work best for them.
The workshop leaders are Ana Brothers, Olly Hawes and Mary O’Connor, with input from other Chaosbaby company members.
After graduating with a BPA in acting from Toi Whakaari NZ drama school, Ana has been a collaborator, devisor and actor in theatre and film in NZ and UK. She also heads a successful high school Drama department in East London.
Olly is a theatre director and workshop facilitator. He is currently on the Jerwood assistant director’s programme at the Young Vic, working with Fevered Sleep. He was a Creative Associate at the Bush and a finalist for the JMK Award. He directs devised work, new writing and some classics, and has designed and facilitated workshops for some of the country’s most respected theatres including, the Arcola, Old Vic and The Watermill, and the charity Create.
Since graduating from Dartington College of Arts, Mary has worked as a performer, freelance silent film accompanist, violinist and theatre composer. Mary is currently a teacher of Dalcroze Eurhythmics at Junior Guildhall.
